  • 04:13 Lyrics Songs That I Have Written

I’ve been told I’m a labyrinth to decode but I would say that I’m not

Trust me I’m still a mystery to myself but you can find out a lot

    Any day or night

    In each song I write

    Whenever you have a question

    Whatever you want to know

Why don’t you sit back and listen to the songs that I have written

I could play you the fifteen tunes that define the years when I was in love

Then you’d sit through the fifteen more where I wonder if I tried hard enough

    My hearts winding trails

    The gory details

    Somewhere between the piano

And the last lyric I wrote

You’ll learn it all if you listen to the songs that I have written

Anyone can see right through me

If they listen to the words

You’ll find I’ve always been like this if you flip the pages back to me young

Back when life was a blank notebook that was waiting for the songs to be sung

    Yes I wrote back then

    And I’ll write again

    Whenever I am inspired

    Whenever questions arise

When life teaches me to listen to the songs that I have written

If you are willing to know me

Let me just tell you right now

It’s better to tell you to listen to the songs that I have written

If you want to get to know me

Oh, I know it sounds absurd

    But have you heard…

    If I am gone tomorrow

Thank God I’ve something to share

All I can pray is you’ll listen to the songs that I have written

The songs that I have written

  • 03:47 Lyrics Scrapbook

So here they are again the thoughts I’m on my own

My days get darker I feel more and more alone

The pressure always there at times I cannot breath

Put on a happy face be perfect make believe

Oh, but you, you keep coming back to listen

You, you just want me as I am

So let me paint a portrait of the times you’ve been here in this room

Take a snapshot of the day I got to meet you

Write it in a notebook all your words that got me through

Keep a scrapbook in my place

So when I’m alone and face to face

With all my doubts and everything that I can’t do

    I’ll remember you

It’s like I’m at the window outside looking in

You’re waiting for my entrance so we can begin

I’m scared to fail you I don’t want to let you down

When did the way I look at me get turned around

‘Cause with you it’s an open invitation

Yeah you, you just want me as I am

  • 04:22 Lyrics Getting Nowhere Has Gotten Me Here

I’m at the crossroads of another change in life

I don’t know if I’m up for the fight for the privilege to be stronger

And as of now I have gotten nowhere fast

I like the comfort of my past

But I know I can’t wait much longer

There isn’t one thing I have done that I regret

My choices brought me here and this I won’t forget

    So I guess I can’t complain

    No, I guess I can’t complain

Because getting nowhere has gotten me here

And it depresses me my money situation

The constant aggravation of having nothing in my pocket

Yet all these humid days prove sticky nights for the homeless

    A woman sleeps upon aloneness

Clutching her life inside a locket

And here I sit in renovated air-conditionedness

High up in a fifth-floor dorm in Boston, Massachusetts

    So I guess I can’t complain

    No, I guess I can’t complain

Because getting nowhere has gotten me here

    I can’t complain

There isn’t one thing I have missed all this time

So I guess I’m at the crossroads of wanting more in life

Not have time cut like a knife into my daily aspirations

Still it’s right over left in this busy life I lead

    My schedule makes me bleed

    No room for healthy inspiration

    Yet it’s 2 AM and I am caffeine-filled, wide-eyed

Writing this song with a piano by my side

    So I guess I can’t complain

    No, I guess I can’t complain

Because getting nowhere has gotten me here

Because getting nowhere has gotten me here

  • 03:51 Lyrics Perfect of You

The moment that we met I was mystified by you

Magical, so marvelous, made me come unglued

Starry-eyed and struck, it’s been seemingly surreal

That the sweetest set of silky lips has kissed me for real

Simple seduction has sent me past staying so sane

I sit here singing songs that say your name

    The boy in me’s beaming

Do I dare say he’s dreaming

Pardon me please I insist that you pinch me

    Profound and profane

I’m perplexed by the perfect of you

Totally turned on almost terribly too much

Tragically I’m tickled by the trace of your touch

Growing grandiose as good gives into great

Graciously I’m giddy you agreed on that date

Gallantly guilty I’m gushy and gaudy for you

To give you just a glimpse of what you do

    The boy in me’s beaming

Do I dare say he’s dreaming

Pardon me please I insist that you pinch me

    Profound and profane

I’m perplexed by the perfect of you

    Profound and profane

I’m perplexed by the perfect of you

  • 04:20 Lyrics Get Along

    Only wanted attention

    Always needed the spotlight

    Bothered you for affection

All my motives were never right

    Never could ask a question

God forbid I was ever right

So you’d win the loudest voice

I bit my tongue for you every time

But you’re not here now to disagree

And I’ve got to move on

I don’t want to be angry anymore

    We just didn’t get along

    After all of the madness

You wiped me clean from any sight

I never gave up a thing for you

Just a chapter of my life

    Get along

    Get along

    Get along

But you’re not here now to disagree

And I’ve got to move on

I don’t want to be angry anymore

    We just didn’t

    We just couldn’t

    Now there’s silence

    And we’ll never get along

  • 03:43 Lyrics I Will Try for You

You like to say how much you love me

You like to buy me gifts for fun

You tell me why you feel so lucky

    I wish I didn’t have to run

    But I will try

Yes, I will try for you

I never try to be too crazy

I focus on what must get done

I tend to miss the world around me

While you spin circles ‘round the sun

    But I will try

Yes, I will try for you

If we could do just what you wanted

We’d meet the world and wander free

We’d talk of future days undaunted

We wouldn’t have to wait for me

    But I will try

Yes, I will try for you

From this day forward I will love you

We’ll take the road less traveled by

You’ll show me things I’ve never been through

I’ll be your carefree summer sky

    Yes I will try

    Yes I will try

    Yes I will try

    Yes I will try

    Yes I will try

Yes I will try for you

  • 03:36 Lyrics Rainy Day LA

    It’s a drizzly Monday evening

As your work flies you away

How the storm sounded from your ceiling

As we cuddled and kissed yesterday

    Pack me up tight

With your suits and your ties

    Cleverness cracked our smiles

    A simple soft goodnight

And a ‘have a safe flight’

For a week from rainy day L.A.

How we laughed and we joked revealing

    Small little pieces of us

Found it easy to stop concealing

And allowing to give into trust

    All I can do

    Is keep thinking of you

    Envious of New York

    The sunny autumn air

I wish I could be there

    Jealous Tuesday, rainy day L.A.

It’s so hard to explain this feeling

    Crazy excitement, cool calm

Like a prophet in awe and kneeling

I’m rejoicing by humming a psalm

    Cryptic in verse

I don’t know which is worse

Too much said or a song

Well, I’ll keep it dry tonight

And like lightning I will write

Stay in Wednesday, rainy day L.A.

    ‘Cause all I can do

    Is keep thinking of you

    Envious of New York

Well, it’s just a few more days

Till you bring some sun this way

And dry up rainy day L.A.

Melt all of the clouds away Sunday

    It’s been a week-long rainy day L.A.

  • 04:32 Lyrics Not a Song

I’m not gonna write a song just yet

I don’t wanna get too excited

I tend to get ahead of myself

But man, man you’ve got me

I don’t wanna look at you too long

I don’t wanna get more attracted

I’ll play cool and try to ignore

Your eyes and how they’ve caught me

But man, man you’ve got me

This is not a song about you

Just the way I get my feelings out the only way I know to

This is not a song about you

But if you feel the way I do there’s bound to be one or two written for you

But I’m not gonna write a song just yet

I don’t know just how to let you know

The way I feel when we’re together

I’d sit forever with you in the rain

Like we did with that first coffee

Oh, man, man you’ve got me

I could write it down on paper

Put my fingers to the keys

Then the whole wide world could hear it

The song that you inspired in me

But I’m scared as hell to tell you

Put my heart out on the line

I should wait a little longer

    Till you give me sign

This is not a song about you

Just the way I get my feelings out the only way I know to

This is not a song about you

But if you feel the way I do there’s bound to be one or two written for you

There’s so many songs in store for so tell me now that you want me to

But I’m not gonna write a song just yet

I’m not gonna write a song just yet

  • 04:48 Lyrics Will You Have Me

To be here with you darling means more than words can say

You bring peace to me each evening and you brighten every day

You’re a beacon in the darkness

    A guiding light at sea

    How you’ve changed me

So what do I have to offer to thank you for all this

Not a diamond for your troubles or a life of endless bliss

Not a thing that might be perfect

Not a thing you haven’t seen

    An ongoing project

All I have to give is me

    I give you my heart

    May it be your shelter

I give you my arms to be your home

To be there by your side through the pain and the laughter

    You will never be alone

    From today throughout eternity

    Will you have me?

As the eagle flies above us let’s remember we have wings

‘Cause what we bring to each other makes our spirit sing

We’ll be as small as a flower

    Tall as a tree

    Silent like the mountains

    Mighty like the sea

Seasons will change but not our romance

So let it be a dance

    I give you my heart

    May it be your shelter

I give you my arms to be your home

To be there by your side through the pain and the laughter

    You will never be alone

    From today throughout eternity

    From today throughout eternity

    Will you have me?

  • 04:19 Lyrics Back to Then

You wouldn’t know me anymore if you saw me here today

You’d see my eyes and wonder why the blue turned to grey

And I can’t recall the last time that I couldn’t feel my heart

Lately it’s been in fast-forward and I’m falling apart

But how are you, God, I miss you so bad

Where went the memories we shared and the moments that we had

Time was the molasses in the cookies we ate then

Can you remember when we laughed

Can you take me back to then

You had pigtails and the cutest dimples a boy had ever seen

I coulda sworn I was the luckiest brother having a sister from a magazine

I was you hero then ‘cause I loved the spotlight, every concert you would come and see

I wouldn’t be here chasing stardust dreams if you hadn’t have believed in me

But how are you, God, I miss you so bad

Where went the memories we shared and the moments that we had

Time was the molasses in the cookies we ate then

And you can always make me laugh

Can you take me back to then

    Time travels by

Like a jet it leaves it’s trails right through my mind

At the end of this month it’s planned you’ll have a baby boy

Your life is changing right before your eyes as you pick out his new toys

You’ll have eighteen years to get him grown, it might be scary showing him the lead

If I can’t be there I’ll be right here, call me up for anything you need

How are you, God, I miss you so bad

Where went the memories we shared and the moments that we had

Time was the molasses in the cookies we ate then

And you will always make me laugh

    Can you take me back

    Can you take me back

Can you take me back to then

  • 03:42 Lyrics Bye, Bye, Bye

Step one, write a song to get you outta my head

Step two, plan a party, remind myself I’m not dead

Step three, look around at all those faces that I love

And say, ‘Man, look what you got

Don’t tell me that you ever forgot

    ‘Cause you’re alive

    You’ve got friends

We’ve got a history that proves to me

They are here till the end

    So sing a song

    Play the piano

Don’t waste your energy on a memory

Shake it off and let go

    So bye bye bye

    Bye bye bye

Hello you and you and you and you

    Yeah, let’s do this again

    So bye bye bye

    Bye bye bye

I’m gettin’ by with a little help from my friends

    So bye bye bye’

Step four, get the food out and open up the champagne

Step five, toast to what’s next and get a little insane

Step six, take a moment and make sure to breathe it all in

And say, ‘Man, look what you got

The future starts right here in this spot

Getting by with some help from my friends

Don’t tell me that you’ll ever forget

  • 05:44 Lyrics You Know I Would

Pastel pinks and blues frame the outline of your house

Sunset oranges make a wall of the sky

This picture-perfect postcard is one to keep

I better buy a few more tacks to hang your photos on my wall

These memories that make me smile

You and I will be friends for always

And If I had a way to say I love you

If I had a way to say I care

If I had a way to say you mean the world to me

    I would

    You know I would

I never thought that our time would come ticking to an end

A few more paragraphs to bring our chapter to a close

We will all be traveling on different roads

You know I would dance in the spotlight of our stage

You know I would act out a million daring kills for you

You know I would sing songs unsung until the night became dawn

    All for you

    All for you
